I have to admit you cannot accuse MH of being 'a reality show!!!!!'.

It popularises a whole load of misconceptions.Gives serious spiritual paths a poor name.

Statistically, you are not likely to get that many murder victims, etc etc- if you have ever done family history, looked up census, death records, trades of people - i have to say that what they find is fairly much unrepresentative.

The presentation is sloppy, the screaming and 'playing to the crowd' obscenely manipulative - and i cannot think their audience are that gullible. Cheesy

Yes, occasionally i've encountered murder-victim spirits; not all realise they were murdered(!) - if you want to go looking, then try the old dockland areas, old london wharves, narrow pub-infested alleyways, where muggings would have occured in bygone days, the old [200-300years ago]'red light' districts. Alms houses and hospices for victims of agues, plagues, palsies - charnel houses. Morbid, gruesome, but educational.

I tend to view Most Haunted with skepticism. Do I hate it? No... yet at the same time i am very unimpressed.  Roll Eyes

Truth be known, you'll find ghosts practically anywhere

Definately. That is the frustrating thing though; you watch these programs for proof and all you get is a performance. I suppose you should expect it really.

Yep, well said silver moon.

Although, perhaps we shouldnt be too hard.... Its taken 900 years (roughly since 1066 and all that) to get paganism mostly recognised -although it has never died out(!)

Spiritualism owes its form from the 'table tapping' parlours of 18th-19th Century; plus a christian schism at a time when people began to question religion deeply [post reformation, non-conformism etc]... so it gives it only 200 years or so 'young'.

Other than the training offered within psychic, traditional families, or a few covens, there was little guidance available.

Perhaps we should be glad that the popularisation through the media has woken a genuine interest in people; it is still a shame that over 900 years of repression still colours perceptions of what is 'acceptable fare' to the public.

Therefore arent we better off, in a 'consumer society' by pointing out the market wants something different? we have two choices: do not buy, or find a better product/supplier... we can only do this by quietly standing up and saying how it is - no fuss, but simple truth, until its heard.

....the point is: those who spiritual and are repelled by it, need something else. Those who have become interested but cannot progress because it only takes them so far- desire improvement, knowledge... So, if they are still hungry - find something to feed them. Grin Grin

(((hug))) Blessed Be... I'm sure you have all the proofs inside you that you need, hence the outrage. may you find the answers in the silence within. Heck, i have to admit tho, i do like to see it confirmed on the outside.
